Key corporate social responsibility in the strategic management of organizations

Currently, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been gaining relative importance in our environment and in the world. This is key for the development of the country and society in general, because gradually the State has been abandoning those responsibilities traditionally entrusted to it, leaving it to private investment to play a different role in support and benefit of society.

The issue of CSR has gained great importance in the strategic management of business organizations, however, many times the concept is not properly applied and is confused with philanthropy.

There are business organizations that develop various projects for the benefit of communities, both for those that have influence, and for those that are not close to their radius of action. Some campaigns, immediate and not very effective, due to their ephemeral objectives, such as food donations, financial support, Christmas campaigns and others, carried out sporadically, are used, under the principles and assumptions of CSR, only for the purpose of reinforcing the institutional image.

The issue of CSR, we believe, has not yet been assimilated and viewed with the seriousness that it really deserves, because its principles and the way this issue has been treated, goes in the opposite direction to true business interests, those that undoubtedly are summarized in higher profits and make the activities of companies increasingly productive and profitable.

But, on the other hand, it is important for organizational leaders to acquire greater awareness day by day that CSR, more than an expense, represents an important investment, whose profit returns would demonstrate an important win-win action for the same business organization and it would clearly fit in with the concept of Shared Value that Michael Porter developed in relation to dealing with stakeholders.

Soon we will determine some approaches to a subject, which, although not yet understood by society as a whole, is of utmost importance to it. We intend to highlight how CSR can become a tool and an appropriate strategy that encourages the socially responsible behavior of business organizations, achieving positive impacts on the community and highlighting the commitment to the development of Peru.
