Burnout syndrome. definition, detection and treatment

Anonim
  • Has it ever happened to you to feel exhausted, overwhelmed and / or overwhelmed, even doing what you like and what you enjoy doing? Do you remember feeling emotionally tired, on the edge of stress and unable to continue with your tasks as did you do it until then?

You have probably been suffering from Burn Out syndrome at some time and you have not realized the dimensions of this discomfort.

This syndrome, which is also known as the “being burned out” syndrome, is an emotional exhaustion that is generated by personal wear and tear, as a result of situations created by the type of demanding task. This is usually unrelated to the management style (I mean people who work under the directives of another or others) and the behavior that the person manifests in front of their superiors.

Generally, it usually occurs in people highly motivated towards their work and with a great vocation for service and where it is most noticed is in occupations related to the assistance and care of people as well as in positions where people are in charge.

It appears as a result of the discrepancy between individual ideals and the reality of daily occupational life.

Which are your principal characteristics?

  • Depersonalization Emotional desensitization Decreased capacity for initiative Feeling of low personal achievement Irritability Cynicism Intolerance in dealing Forgetfulness, accidents, mistakes Lack of concentration

Have you felt identified with some of these traits?

If so, pay attention to the advice I give you, both to address it and to prevent it:

  • Organize time and activities to rest and dedicate moments to leisure. Don't let the problems go by, talk about what happens. Kicking the ball forward is not addressing the discomfort, but implies postponing it and generally this tends to increase with consequences on your physical and emotional health. Change those habits that harm you (in terms of eating, resting and surrounding yourself with negative people who take away your energy and prevent you from focusing on healthy issues). Do stretching exercises every day, even if it's about 20 minutes a day. This will improve your postures and remove muscle aches and contractures. Practice sports, since in addition to the physical and emotional benefit that it implies, it allows you to connect recreationally with other people and share pleasant goals in common. Avoid infusions and cola drinks, or at least reduce and regulate their consumption.

Now it's your turn: have you ever been through a situation like this? I invite you to share your experience with us (it is always healthy to be able to talk and share with others) and I hope what I tell you in this week's article will be useful to you.

Thank you for always being there!!
