Three steps to analyze what is wrong in your life

One of the reasons you sometimes don't achieve your goals is not that you are not ready to change, or that you are scared and paralyzed, but that you do not know what is not working.

Recently a person wrote to me saying that his problem was that he did not know what was wrong in his life and he was not clear, of course, what to do about it. Perhaps you are going around and around and still not knowing why you are unhappy or why you do not have the results you want. Or maybe you haven't thought about it until now because you're so busy you don't even have time.

The point is, as you well know, if you don't know what needs to be changed or what is wrong, you won't be able to fix it. So what can you do to determine what is not working and get to work? This is what I always work with my clients.

1. Back to the foundations

In my opinion, both personally and professionally, having your foundations very clear is key. It is the first thing I work with my clients, both professionally and when I help them improve the results of their business; Because if you don't know what is important to you on a personal level, on a basic level, you won't understand why you don't feel fulfilled or why you are missing something. And because sometimes we forget something Fundamental, that your work is part of your life, not your whole life.

Most people don't stop to think about it, so now is as good a time as another. What is important for you? What are your priorities, your values, your needs as a person? Once you have this clear, it will be easier for you not only to know what you are missing, but to make decisions, because you will know why you are making them. For example:

  • Maybe you feel stagnant professionally because your work has become routine for you and you are a person who needs constant challenges (as it happens to me, for example). Perhaps the reason for your overwhelm is that you want to spend more time with your family and in your current situation you cannot, and you will only have this clear if you are aware that, at least at this moment in your life, your family is the number one priority for you.You may feel frustrated because, contrary to the previous case, Your family has always been your priority and now, however, your career is, because now it's your turn, as happened to one of my clients. Maybe you're overwhelmed because yes, your business is going well, but you don't have time to almost nothing else and one of your needs is to take care of yourself and rest or dedicate yourself more to personal development.

Once you are clear about what is important to you as a person, we can move on to the second part: your profession or business.

2. Analyze your professional "profile"

As in the previous case, you have to be clear about what you want on a professional level. Sometimes the fault is that you have not given yourself time to sit down and think about it and, other times, no matter how many turns you give it, you only have a hodgepodge of ideas in your head (that's when seeking help would be good for you).

What is important to you professionally? Earn money, have challenges, earn the respect of other professionals or colleagues. It doesn't matter what it is, but you have to know it to be able to act accordingly.

These two steps are sometimes simple and sometimes not, but the information they give you about what you really need is priceless and, furthermore, once you have clarified you can move on to the third point.

3. Brainstorming and decision

In this step, a lot of possibilities, ideas and explanations will have arisen and it is time to stop to analyze them and decide which one you are going to give a chance to, what are you going to change, start, eliminate, etc, for later get going and get what you really want (at least right now): a new job, a promotion, a radical change, more clients, another way of working, etc.
