3 Tips to identify a good personal opportunity

Anonim

One of the things that has always interested me and that few people talk about is how to know when to accept an opportunity, how to identify a good opportunity. Sometimes you start to get interesting proposals but you have little time or you just want to be sure before committing, lest you waste time, effort and even money on something that in the end is not worth it or for what you do not get or personal satisfaction. How do you know which opportunity is really good (at least for you)? And not only that but, if you decide not to accept, how to differentiate between the fear of accepting (which is nothing more than self-sabotage) and the intuition or feeling that it is not for you, that you really do not want to do it?

I am a person who trusts his intuition enough, but sometimes I am not sure if I really do not want to do something, or it is fear of what awaits me: of not being able, of exposing myself in public, etc. So it seemed essential to know what to do in those cases and, just in time, I found a couple of videos of Marie Forleo that I loved and have helped me a lot.

This is what you can do if you are in that situation:

- Define your goal. To be sure whether an opportunity is worth accepting or not, you have to be clear about your goals. Whether it is on a professional or personal level, in the short or long term, if you know what you want it will be easier for you to determine if that "opportunity" brings you closer to your goal. That is exactly what you have to always keep in mind, that whatever you do brings you closer to your goal, whatever it is.

- Use a filter question. I love this technique, in fact it was named by Marie Forleo in a different video but it seems to me that it is applicable here too, at least in some cases. The question is: 10 years from now, would you regret not having accepted this opportunity? If the answer is yes, don't think twice. This filter question is also very useful when making other types of decisions.

- Analyze the sensations. It is normal to experience fear and nerves in the face of something new, but there is a clear way to distinguish if it is your intuition telling you not to waste time, or if it is simply fear of leaving your comfort zone and trying something new. If when you think or talk about the opportunity, even if you have doubts and fear, you feel excited and your face lights up, then go for it! If, on the contrary, it seems that you shrink, bend and get overwhelmed, think about it… You can discuss it with your friends and they see how you behave when you explain the situation to them. Many times someone from outside finds it obvious just from your body language.

As you can see, these are three very simple but effective tricks that will help you make better decisions whenever an opportunity presents itself. I would like to know what you do in that situation, do you have any special technique?
