3 Powerful Questions to Take Your Mindset to the Next Level of Success

Anonim

I never tire of saying it, although I probably won't say it enough: you are the heart, the engine, the fuel and the energy of your professional business, and therefore, to be successful in your business you don't just need to work IN your business, but you also need to learn to work ON YOURSELF.

There are several aspects to take into account when you start doing a deep work on yourself (your purpose, your entrepreneurial spirit, etc.) but the one that I want you to evaluate today is your mentality. There is a phrase that I love:

"What you believe today is what you will create tomorrow"

It is not about faith (you can have it and it is super valid), but rather about self - confidence. What you believe about yourself is the absolute truth for your mind. Just as there are people with great self-confidence who take risks and get ahead despite any kind of difficulties, there are other people who do not take a step without first regretting how difficult everything is, who feel that everything bad happens to them, that they have failed in any area of their life, that each choice they have made has been at the least indicated moment, etc., etc., etc.

What do you look like? Are you one of those who do not know how, but always turn out to be "standing up" like cats? (sshhh secretito, it's one of my natural beliefs!) Or are you more of those who feel that, while things always work out for others, you are not lucky? Let me share…

3 powerful questions to take your mindset to the next level of success

Question # 1 - Who do I need to become to achieve (my goal)?

This is one of my favorite questions, and it's one of the ones that drives and energizes the goals I set for myself each year. There is a phrase that I love that says something like "it is not possible to solve a problem on the same mental level on which it was created" (it is from Einstein). A rather literal interpretation that I make of this phrase, and one that will help you every year, is that if you have really challenging goals for the person you are today, then you must find how to transform yourself into a new person who can achieve these goals.

The first thing I recommend to you, once you have your challenging goal in your sights, is to make a list of the skills, abilities, attitudes, and characteristics that an X person who has achieved that goal would have. For example, suppose your challenging goal is to become independent and build a successful business. So you imagine an X person who is already independent and has a successful business and you see that she has gone through ups and downs and still has moved on (ability to operate in contexts of uncertainty), who has known how to take risks (ability.

Question # 2 - What do I need to do, learn, and let go of to become (that person)?

Once you have a great list (it is like that, probably if your goal is really challenging it will not be a small list) of everything that “that person” is today to have achieved your challenging goal, now you have to find the way to become that person.

Maybe it is as simple as training or acquiring a skill that you do not have today. Or maybe you need to learn how to handle certain situations. But it is also likely that you will have to learn to “let go” of attitudes from the past that today are binding you and rooting you to this present and that are distancing you from the person you want to be to achieve your challenging goal.

It doesn't matter if you can't become that person right now, the important thing is to start walking the path. Usually it will take a while, but you must start with the first step: wanting to do it.

I am going to tell you a small method that I implemented myself a few years ago to see if it helps you. When I decide to make an important change in my life (for example when I decided to leave my job to become independent), long before I could start to make significant changes in that direction, I mentalize myself with a small phrase that I once found and resonated a lot with me.: MIND THE GAP.

Surely you have seen this phrase in an American or English movie (or if you have traveled or live there), because it is the small sign that appears at the exit of the subway / subway or train. A suitable interpretation would be "be careful with the space" (there is always a space between the platform and the train). But for me it means " worry about the gap." What gap? The gap between what I am today and what I want to be. “Mind the gap” represents that creative tension that exists between today and what I want to be, and reminds me that, although perhaps I can only start taking small steps towards it, the gap still exists and I care, and I will do something for her at some point, I will not settle or resign myself.

Question # 3 - What value do I need to provide to my client to achieve (my goal)?

Working specifically on your business and on the challenging objectives that you can set for yourself in your business, I like this question because it focuses your entire operation and your action on one of your main assets in the company: the value you provide to your customers.

If what you want is to make a change in the direction or bases of your business (change your market niche, transform your services, for example), thinking about the new value that you will provide to your clients will help you raise the level of your services now focus on the results and benefits you will provide.

If you want to make operational changes, thinking about the value this will bring to your customers will help you be more productive. Likewise, if you want to change or enhance the channels through which you reach your customers (your marketing, your promotions, your sales strategies), this question will keep you focused on what is important: do not stop serving your customers and be creative as long as this represents an improvement at that point.

Now I would love to ask you, do you have any method to maintain your mentality as an ally in your most challenging goals? Do you feel that you have some belief or blockage that, on the contrary, stops you and does not help you achieve your goals? I would love for you to share what you think below in the comments.
