4 False obstacles that stop your personal progress

Anonim

Have you ever seriously asked yourself what exactly is preventing you from achieving your goals or dreams? Surely you can think of a thousand and one reasons or obstacles, and that you even feel with your hands tied because you think you are incapable of doing anything about it, but to what extent is it true?

I warn you in advance that this is a very direct article, because sometimes you have to put the points on the ies (by the way, this expression that used to mean being too thorough, but today it means making things clear).

By now you already know that there are certain things that you can control and modify (such as your attitude, for example), and others that, as much as you want, it is not in your power to control. It is absurd to get caught up in the latter when there is nothing you can do, because all you can do is get frustrated. These "other things" are what I call false obstacles and they are only excuses because the reality is that there are things you can do about it, but it scares you. Let me give you some examples of false obstacles:

Others. Interesting topic when you think that your boss, your partner or the neighbor across the street are your biggest obstacle. I am sorry to tell you that this is only an excuse. You cannot change people, but you can change your attitude and behavior. That you can't stand your boss, because there are three options like this a priori: you change jobs, you change your attitude or you conform. There are no buts that are worth, that's the truth, the buts that come to you are fears. You can also talk about the emotional blackmail that some people do to you, but it is also up to you whether to accept it or not. And yes, I know it is not easy, few things are. I leave you with an article by Ana Zabaleta on this topic: When your obstacles are other people.

The actual situation. There are many people who are having a hard time right now, and there are also many people who find this situation pearls as an excuse. "So I'm going to look for a job if there isn't one", "with how bad things are I won't even try". Or worse, people who not only try nothing, but criticize or discourage those who do. There are a lot of people doing things in these times (myself), maybe you could see it as the best moment, the push you needed; since sometimes until something like this happens you don't dare to leave your little corner. There is a fantastic documentary on this, the pity is that it is only in English. It's called Lemonade (referring to the famous saying "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade") and tells the story of several people who were fired overnight and what they did next.I recommend it to you.

Age, physical appearance and the like. Another great excuse, another false obstacle in most cases (there are always exceptions, of course, if you want to be a dancer at 60 years old, it is not easy. But neither is it impossible, I will not be the one to take away your hope. You could probably find some satisfactory alternative that would allow you to dance in some way). There are many people who, with their little years of age, began to do things, be it writing, singing or acting, for example. And of course the same with your physical appearance, whether you are more or less pretty, more or less thin, do not let that become an excuse.

Lack of time. A widely used excuse when you want to do something: start your own business, do a new course, hire a coach;) Excuse, because when you really want something you take time from anywhere. It is not a matter of time but of priorities, of being focused, of dedication and of hard work. Many people have started their business having a full-time job and even children. In fact, one of my clients has managed to have her job full time, run a foundation that also requires a lot of work, save time for herself and launch a new website as a side project. How do they get it? Getting up earlier, going to bed later, stopping watching TV, organizing better…Take a good look at how you use your time and you will see that you can take time out to carry out your project or whatever you have in mind. As always, I'm not saying it's easy, it will be hard, but it's your choice. What do you really want to do?

One thing is clear, whoever wants something costs it. Things are not given away, nor will the heavens be opened so that your life changes overnight. If you want something to change, start changing yourself. All the people you see successfully have started working, fighting, making sacrifices. So do not be fooled looking at their current situation and thinking that it is because they have been lucky or because they are more handsome, have more contacts or anything else. All this can influence, but do not kid yourself, they have worked hard to be there. So if you want changes, start making them and if you find it difficult to seek help, but do not stand idly by watching life go by. As an old English saying goes:

"Where there is a will, there is a way" (or in other words: wanting is power).
