6 Steps to get out of bad personal habits

Anonim

Habits are actions that have a direct effect on our life and that we carry out methodically and constantly. That effect can be both positive and negative, it is our choice the desired end and, consequently, what behavior we want to maintain.

Our lives sometimes face unpleasant episodes that we wish to forget, and to achieve this we decided to resort to back doors that generate a precarious escape, ephemeral relief, a momentary amnesia whose price is initially so cheap, that we prefer not to attend to the secondary consequences. that in most cases they are worse than the initial problem.

It is in these circumstances when we look for fast-acting, immediate-acting, and instantly beneficial remedies, but the more sudden the maneuver, the shorter the relief. Now, it is that very brevity that puts us at risk of adopting unwanted habits, those that have harmful effects on our being. In other words, suffering, depression, and frustration are the perfect bed to breed bad habits.

And it is in those moments when we are most vulnerable to making small changes when seeking immediate satisfaction. Changes, that at the moment we don't think can become part of our routine, but that surprisingly are learned with speed and then are incredibly difficult to leave.

To reverse the effects of adverse habit, we just need to follow these simple steps:

1.- Acceptance: you must identify the bad habit, be clear about its existence and the reasons why you acquired it.

2.- Conscience: you must recognize the evil that it does to you, the damage that it produces in you, how bad you feel when it occurs.

3.- Visualization: observe what you want to achieve, feel the sense of well-being that you will experience when you cancel it. Think about the future.

4.- Make the decision: define exactly what steps to follow, what commitments you make, what will be the way back to tranquility.

5.- Willpower: have the firm conviction that you can, with the confidence that you will not go back. With faith in your character and the ability to support you in your decision.

6.- Take action: don't leave it for later, don't give it more time to take root in you, act immediately.

It is important that we take as a maximum from now on, leave those habits that may be harmful to us, whether in the short or long term, and incorporate into our routine those that can make us feel more comfortable on a daily basis, that contribute to fulfillment in our lives, that propel our path to continued growth.

" Whether we like it or not, everything that is happening right now is a product of the decisions we made in the past." Depack Chopra.
