Probably since childhood we have heard about a vocation, how important it is to have one and that the sooner we know what it is, the better it would go in life, assuming that it is something that is naturally discovered, without conflict, crisis or questioning. What we have not been told, surely, is that on some occasions, detecting what the vocation is or, let me call it another way: the mission we have in life, involves going through moments of confusion, doubts, uncertainties and even even anguish or anger.

Registering that is what we like, we are passionate about, it is easier or more pleasant for us to carry out and to consider the possibility of making it something profitable, which allows us to generate money to live the rest of our lives, it is not something simple and that is discovered or defined in one day.

Vocation is the inclination that we can have for any state, career or profession and is clearly related to the wishes, desires, tastes, interests and aptitudes. It involves discovering and knowing who I am, what I am and where I want to go. This is achieved after a complex and different process for each person.

This inclination is not innate, it is an internal construction in which certain variables influence: family history, the socio-cultural environment, the educational experience and the image that one has of oneself.

Vocation is that which fills us, generates satisfaction and well-being to the point of feeling that we do not need anything else and reaching this point requires internal work.

How to find out then; What is our vocation? What do we need to take into account?

Vocation is chosen, we have already seen, and certain variables influence that choice. It is essential to maintain a healthy emotional predisposition in which conformism does not come into play and, instead, ambition and the desire to grow and transcend. Talents and qualities are necessary elements for the development, progress and achievement of objectives. And last but not least, to include the vocation and the personal project in a constructive life projectin which the social, the others, are somehow involved and therefore benefited with personal choice, so that it does not cease to be something merely selfish. Examples of this are the doctors offering their services, the artist offering his art to the community, the teacher teaching how to think, etc.

In short, detecting what our vocation is requires a path, a process and personal work that allows us to honestly decide who we are, what our desire is and where we want to go with it.

Now it's your turn: tell us what is your vocation? Did you already discover it? What are you doing with her Or what are you doing to discover it?
