Social networks. An advance or an evil of this century? they debate around the positive and the negative. If they form or deform us; if they educate or not. It does not matter who wins or loses the discussion about whether they are necessary or harmful, whether they are important or not. The really undeniable is what, they got into our ways of life, for better or for worse.

Networks are for everyone, for those who insult, for those who offend. For those who communicate, for those who inform, for those who celebrate, for those who sell, for those who fall in love, and for those who give it some kind of occasional or sustained utility.

In minutes, a picture or comment can literally go around the world. They are present in all the moments and spaces of everyday life, in an increasingly virtual world, social networks are gaining ground and every day they add users who want to join that fantasy sphere. The usefulness will always depend on the proper administration of your publications, the level of reasoning and our conscience when socializing.

Watch out for those cobwebs

Not everything that is in the networks is real, life is not like that, there is a danger of interpreting reality as a whole from virtual publications, they are not always a reflection of what is truly important. In the circumstantial, perhaps, they are of great value, the possibility of following an event in real time is important, for good and for bad. But, it will always be advisable to measure, caution, respect, consider the appropriateness of the message you want to convey. Trends can sometimes be a mirror; but, they could also be a mirage.

Dangerously, some organizations take over the management and manage through messages, there are no longer formal meetings to analyze and dimension complex phenomena, forwarding information remedies the problem. Gone are the principles of all schools of administrative thought and application to address business and social dynamics.

Public and private institutions are managed through these communication channels, which is still an advantage, only that the organizational scaffolding that guarantees the consolidation of a stable operation, from the organizational point of view, should not be through virtuality. For example, supervisory lines no longer meet with subordinates, they send a message to a group, and the dynamic is there. Looking face to face will always be important.

Platforms for virtual teaching are something else, it is good that they are strengthened every day, facing new technologies, but, at all levels, some teachers or trainers resort to social networks confusing these tools. The teaching and learning process, conceived sociologically as essential for the development of the individual and then for society, cannot be relieved by the use of social networks. I do not think they are considered means of teaching reading or writing, for example, but they serve to promote positive things.

The content found is multiform, heterogeneous and extensive. We choose where to place ourselves, we can distinguish what is harmful and decide if we continue to “navigate” or not, we can identify what is harmful and toxic, but we never allow children to use them, it is not true that we can control them, it is a dangerous weapon. Watch out.

Criteria for use

It seems that these tools do not have forms of control and the correct use is at the discretion of the users, there are; restrained, weighted and timely, but we also have, a good part that does not demonstrate the slightest posture of education and decency. In these ways he is insulted, offended and unscrupulously disqualified. Decalogues are created but not always complied with beyond the norms of the companies that created these tools, so the resource of conscious and respectful use among users is appealed to.

Another aspect that should always be reviewed is the almost obsessive behavior of some users, people who only feed leisure with its use, can spend hours walking through the publications, isolate themselves from their environment, are addicted to their mobile equipment, lose the essence from concrete reality to circulate all day through a "virtual reality". They fall asleep when the nets allow it, and they get up to jump into that trap that attracts them as if it had an invisible magnet. They miss out on the truly enjoyable moments immersed in that maze that they start by sharing an image, but then cannot stop.

Social networks will hardly save you from misspellings, the correct use of language or your personal growth in general. You can learn things, of course, not everything can be bad. If we give it a conscious and consistent use, we will surely find things of interest, but they should never replace physical reality, since much of what is found there is not as beautiful as it seems.

In reality, the industry that creates them, the logos and the equipment through which we make their use effective, are not the ones who do harm. It is we who position a label, viralize an image; a video, or give importance to a comment. We are the human beings who shape this daily phenomenon

In any case, it will always correspond to guide responsible, appropriate and respectful use. It is incredible how sometimes a trend is considered an objective reality capable of feeding variables of our daily life and even influencing it. A comment shared by a few thousand is assumed to be real, even if it has nothing to do with the truth. An image goes around the world in minutes and is already at the command of someone's detractors or followers to auction off its importance or usefulness.

Important thing

We do not have to deprive ourselves of networks, resist that they exist; it is to deny a reality for all to see. They are among us, and there is no doubt that many good things can be collected from their proper use, we can live with them, without being captivated and caught, always with respect, tolerance and a high sense of conscience. Its use is not questionable, what is reprehensible is the improper use.

See you on the networks.
