How to deal with a bad decision

Anonim

What to do when you have made a bad decision? The other day a reader wrote to me saying that she had made a series of erroneous decisions that had affected her greatly and that she did not know what to do. We all make mistakes from time to time in many things, but when the mistake is important and affects you a lot, what can you do?

The first thing that crossed my mind as soon as I read the message was this that I posted on Facebook:

How to deal with a bad decision

Of course it depends a lot on the situation, the consequences can vary a lot and I cannot deal with all cases in one article. In general, the first thing I would tell you is that you don't feel guilty because that doesn't give you anything and, worse, it keeps you blocked instead of being able to think of solutions. But of course, I know it is a very difficult thing to do, we have deep-rooted guilt and it is not so easy not to feel guilty. So allow yourself to feel guilty for a while (but not long!), And then go for the solutions.

First of all think, can you fix what you have done in some way? Put aside pride, insecurity or whatever and get down to work, ask forgiveness of whoever is necessary and try to solve everything you can.

I am aware that many times that is not possible or would not be enough. In that case, you have no choice but to move on. Learn from your mistake, rethink what to do from now on. Even if it takes you a while to recover, the worst thing is to keep regretting doing nothing; so don't waste time blaming yourself or others or judging yourself (at least not long). I repeat this many times, time will pass anyway you do what you do, so better to do something useful, right?

In reality, the most difficult part of this situation is the insecurity, fear and even despair that it brings, so it is essential that you be resilient, that you get up as many times as necessary because things are not easy but you do not need to the more difficult. You are not the first nor will you be the last to make a mistake, even if it is very serious. There's always something you can do, even if it takes a while, even if you're so messed up that you don't feel like doing anything, and if you can't think of it, ask for help.

There are many cases of people who, for example, lost everything and won it again. I'll give you an example, David Cantolla, the creator of the well-known Pocoyo cartoon series. He was already a billionaire before coming up with that idea, but he went bankrupt and then succeeded again creating one of the best-known characters for whom we have children. And not only that, but he has just published a comic with his story. And this is what it says:

“Basically I did it by losing my fear. Working again with all the intensity and passion of which I am capable. Putting common sense and criticism. Doing something that I really liked and… hopefully. "

And it's not the only case. So apply his words and do yourself the favor of not only looking at the part of luck, that we know each other… Give yourself time to vent and stand again.

Have you been through a similar situation? What did you do to keep going?
