How to be satisfied in your work

Anonim

There are times when you feel "trapped" (or trapped) in a job that does not fill or like you and due to your circumstances, fears and needs, you prefer to endure than to decide to quit. And how are you going to find yourself satisfied in such a case, right?

I am always in favor of changing what you do not like, but if you do not make up your mind and choose to continue holding on, there are certain things you can do to make your situation more bearable and you feel satisfied.

The first step is to accept that, as in all areas, the key is in your attitude, in your expectations and in knowing what makes you happy. If you are angry, frustrated or depressed it will be difficult for you to feel satisfied. What determines your happiness is how you react to setbacks and everyday situations. So decide, what can you change in your attitude?

Another important question is, what do you need to feel satisfied?Although there are many things that can be mentioned, in general there are three basic ones: more money (status), promotions or possibility of development (prestige), or enjoying what you do. For some people the most important thing is money, having a good status; and they will be satisfied if they have a high salary regardless of work. For others, more than money, it is the possibility of moving up, and for others, doing a job they enjoy. Of course there can also be different combinations. For example, I need to work on something that I'm passionate about and that involves professional development. Although I like money, I prefer to earn less and have the previous two, especially the first one. And you? Which of these ingredients must be present in your work in order for you to feel satisfied?

Once you know that, what else can you do to feel satisfied or satisfied in your work? Here are some suggestions:

Increase the challenges. No one likes to be stagnant and without any challenge. If your job doesn't have them, define them yourself. Set goals to improve yourself every day or do competitions with a partner (who gets more sales today, takes less time than yesterday to finish a report, etc.). Learn something different from what you normally do, aim to teach someone…

Connect with someone. Everything is much more pleasant when you have someone to share your day to day. (I know sometimes it is not easy, but that is another matter.)

Break the routine. Honestly, my routine kills me, doing the same thing every day at the same time seems maddening. If you want to avoid boredom, change shifts, sign up for a course, change departments. Can't you do any of that? Change your daily routine, go eat at different places, meet different people, change the decoration from time to time. The key is in the variety and in making the small moments more bearable. Sometimes everyday moments that we don't care about can make the difference between any day and a pleasant day.

Do your job well. A job well done and tasks completed generate a lot of satisfaction.

Seek satisfaction in other areas of your life. Make the time you spend away from work be what you want. Because your work does not have to be solely responsible for your fulfillment (here comes the issue of expectations, what do you expect from your work?). Find activities that fill you with energy and satisfy your concerns. This way you will improve your mood and predisposition and also your attitude at work.

Know your options perfectly. It's easy to feel stuck when you don't have the remotest idea of your alternatives and options. However, when you have them clear that makes you more satisfied in your work because you have chosen it among all the options. Research possible alternative jobs, update your resume, find out.

If you still can't feel satisfied, it's time to seriously question your reasons for continuing like this. Can't you really change? Or is it that fear prevents you? Life is long but not to stay is a place you hate! If your reasons are not real needs, it is time to consider a change.
