I think the mistake is that most people do not know that there is a whole process of transition between life as an employee and life as a web entrepreneur.
This process is not achieved overnight. It involves going through various stages of development that, like the maturation of a human being, go from childhood to adulthood.

In the beginning, there is great enthusiasm and great vision. Both are positive elements if they are coupled with the willingness to change the mindset, seek the right education, make mistakes and persevere in difficult times.
At this stage, the entrepreneur is the sole employee of his business and tries to do everything on his own. He still has an employee mindset, so he tends to keep trading hours for dollars.
It goes without saying that the vast majority of Internet businesses fail at this stage. Many fledgling entrepreneurs fall into self-employment, become slaves to their business, and become exhausted, frustrated, and then abandon the project.
However, if you are persistent in continuing to educate yourself and in seeking good advice, you can make the jump to the second stage:

The new web entrepreneur has already solved the first obstacles of his venture and is looking to give the necessary strength to his business so that it can last over time.

As you can see, the key is to stop thinking as an employee who tries to be involved in all aspects of the business. The entrepreneur must become a visionary leader of a team of people who meets the necessary conditions to be able to take the business much further than he could do on his own.
An Internet business, like any other offline business, goes through these 3 stages of development, unless the entrepreneur already has previous experience in the area of offline business.
I would say that the entire process takes between 3 to 5 years.
