Summary:

The article proposes a scheme in which business philosophy directly lays the foundations for current mentoring. Likewise, it correlates the definitions of business philosophy and links them to a series of clear and determining examples.

In the business world, every day we come across an unlimited series of messages, both advertising and all those that invite us to acquire, belong, prefer and try.

This work is constant and generally moves by leaps and bounds. But behind all the sway and the determined struggle to achieve positioning, is the business philosophy.

Behind a great brand, there is a great company, and supporting the structure of that company are its coordinators. And beyond all those articulators we run into the founders. Those who have impressed their knowledge, values, vision and dreams on the company.

It seems like this, a complex and redundant game of words and an endless scale of positions, but it is the essence of any organization.

Business philosophy is today an element of great power and value in the business world.

What is the business philosophy? It is difficult to establish a clear definition, however, it must be said that business philosophy identifies the "way of being" of a company, and it is said that the culture of the company has to do with its principles and values, all this is so much how to conclude that it is "the shared vision of an organization".

When we speak of a shared vision, we refer to the series of values, tools and group synergy such that the communication of the company will always be transmitted equally, from the general management, to the entrance door of the establishment. This is not an easy task, on the contrary, there are companies that after a decade of existence have not effectively defined their business philosophy, even when there is a great effort to achieve it.

Currently, many companies are rethinking not the fact of having a business vision and philosophy, but the constant way in which they have communicated these aspects to their own subordinates.

We can mention a clear case of business philosophy mentioning the automobile company Volvo, which within its vision and brand projection, is to transmit to its employees, managers and consumers the image of the safe car par excellence. Thus it has remained throughout its existence, being able to gradually achieve the introduction of three complementary sentences without suffering repercussions or questioning the coherence of its philosophy. "More emotions", "More power" and "More elegance". These phrases give it a new and vigorous image, however the company has made it clear that although its cars have adopted new facets that generate added value, they will continue to be the safest car in its category and in the world.

Behind this overwhelming success, the company's business philosophy is well defined and supported in all its aspects, making Volvo an exceptional success story.

Well, up to this point I have not involved mentoring in any way, a learning process that has found its methodology due to the need to create high values of business philosophy. However, it is the main axis through which these large aggregates are developed.

What is mentoring? Mentoring owes its name to Greek mythology. Mentor was the close friend of Ulysses, the protagonist of Homer's Odyssey. Before leaving for Troy, Ulysses asked Mentor to take charge of preparing his young son Telemachus to succeed him as king of Ithaca. Mentor had to be a father, teacher, model, affordable and reliable counselor, inspirer, and challenger so that Telemachus would become a wise, good, and wise king. Mentoring is a learning process by which a person assumes ownership and responsibility for their own personal and professional development.

In a mentoring relationship, there must be a clear and recognizable synergy between its three components: mentor, mentor and company.

Mentoring has become an affable resource for any company that is sure to communicate accurately and effectively all the elements that together make up the business structure, since it subsequently generates a certainty that subordinates will faithfully represent the values of the entire company..

Then the mentoring process emerges with full force, from the creation and representation of the company's values, conferred on each of the elements in each area or direction within it.

Imagine the great power that a well-defined and articulated mentoring process represents.

Until recently, mentoring programs represented only a qualitative leap in the development of the potential of individuals.

The mentor empowers the mentee to have new perspectives, enrich their ways of thinking and promote deeper personal knowledge.

Currently, mentoring is developed from a much deeper perspective, such is the success case of the American consulting firm Changing Mindz Consulting, by Ericka Walter, who has consolidated an innovative and powerful system by proposing profound changes based on the strategic role of coaches and mentors, focusing the process of acceptance to deep change in organizations.

Thus, mentoring is effective today, from my very particular point of view, only if it is developed from the creation of values that represent and at the same time signify the business philosophy of the organization. In this regard, linkage and not discredit in all respects represent the highest added value.

"The future has many names. For the weak is the unreachable. For the fearful, the unknown. For the brave it is the opportunity ”.
