Introduction

This work will explain how to solve the most common faults that Opto Control sensors present and the possible solutions that can be applied to each of these, detailing the options to carry out the maintenance of the faults in a fast efficient way.

Overall objective

Generate a manual mentioning the main problems that Opto Control brand sensors present.

Hypothesis

The creation of a manual to solve the main problems that Opto Control sensors present will facilitate the maintenance tasks of the Opto Control sensors.

Theoretical framework

Opto control Sensors are those that allow us to have intelligent control of passenger counting on buses. This electronic system allows us to carry out audits and control what happens on the bus. For example, it counts the ups and downs of people. (José, 2008)

List of problems and solutions

Opto Control bar does not turn on:

The Opto Control sensor system has four bars which can have the problems listed below.

Power supply bar does not turn on:

  • Check the state of the general fuse, being burned prevents the electric current from reaching the equipment Check the power source that is drawing 5volts if it does not have the voltage, check that the electrical current of the power supply is correct, otherwise change the power source Check if the power supply cable of the source is sending current, if it is not sending current check that the power cable is correctly connected to the battery, otherwise replace the power cable that goes from the battery to the source.

Optocoupler bar does not turn on:

  • Restart the Optocoupler by disconnecting the C cable for 10 seconds and connecting it again, the equipment may have blocked Verify that the C cable is connected to the Optocoupler since it transmits 5 volts to power the following bars Verify that it is transmitting 5volts the Cable C. Verify that the power source is drawing the 5 volts necessary to power the rest of the equipment, otherwise change the power source. The power source transmits the necessary 5 volts but the C cable does not transmit the 5 volts. cable C.

RX bar back door won't turn on:

  • Restart the Rx2 disconnect the P cable for 10 seconds and connect again Check the P cable is transmitting 5 volts if it is not transmitting 5 volts verify that the rx1 card is transmitting correctly If the Rx1 is transmitting electrical current and the cable it is not transmitting this current replace the P wire.

Rear door TX bar does not turn on:

  • Restart the TXD disconnect for 10 seconds the C cable that comes from the RXD Check that the C cable is transmitting 5volts if it is not transmitting verify that the RXD card is sending 5volts if it is sending 5 volts and is not reaching the TXD replace cable C.

Unit does not record:

  • Verify that the B cable coming out of the Optocoupler is correctly connected to the Rx1 card The Optocoupler does not show flickering restart by disconnecting the C cable for 10 seconds The Optocoupler is on without blinking, the Optocoupler is locked and is not transmitting data disconnect the Cable C from the Optocoupler for 10 seconds and check the blinking The Optocoupler shows a continuous blinking the modem is blocked and it is not allowing data transmission disconnect the cable that is connected from the Optocoupler to the modem for 10 seconds and check the blinking. The Optocoupler shows a normal flicker, check the voltage coming from the Optocoupler to the Rx1, if no voltage is passing, change the B cable, if the problem persists, change the Optocoupler. The Optocoupler shows a normal flicker, the output voltage to Rx1 is correct, proceed to reconfigure the Optocoupler.

Front door does not register for lapses:

  • Check that the Rx and Tx are aligned correctly Clean the Rx1 and Rxu card with acrylic stain to avoid dirt Clean the Txd and Txu card with acrylic stain to avoid dirt Check that the voltage is correct and is not varying from 5vots If there are variations, check where the voltage is being lost by trying another B wire and another C wire to restore the voltage.

Back door does not register:

  • Verify the P cable is connected Verify the P cable is transmitting 5 volts if it is not transmitting verify that the P cable is connected correctly in the Rx1 card in door 1. The P cable is connected correctly and there is no voltage in door two change cable P.

Back door does not register for lapses:

  • Check that the Rx and Tx are aligned correctly Clean the Rx2 and Rxu card with acrylic stain to avoid dirt Clean the Txd and Txu card with acrylic stain to avoid dirt Clean the Rx1 card with acrylic stain to avoid dirt Check that the voltage is adequate and it is not varying from 5vots to present variations verify where the voltage is being lost by trying another B wire and another P wire to restore the voltage.

Both doors do not register x lapses:

  • Verify source voltage, if it does not present an adequate voltage, restart by disconnecting it from the current for 10 seconds, if the problem persists, replace the source, Verify the status of the batteries due to sulfation, it may present voltage variations that affect the equipment..

Front door does not register for locks:

  • Using a digital camera, verify that the LEDs of the Tx are on, if they are not, restart the Txd disconnect cable B for 10 seconds, if the problem persists, change the power cable B that goes from the Rxd to the source. If you change cable B and the LEDs still do not turn on, verify that the voltage is correct and precede to change the Txd card if the voltage is correct.

Front door mark 60 locks:

  • Verify that the Rxu cable is connected correctly and that they are sending the necessary voltage. Verify that the caps are not blocking the receiver.

Front door marks 250 or erratic locks:

  • Check that the mica is not dirty or contains any obstacle that interrupts the signal of the transmitters Check that the caps of both the rx1 and Rxu are not loose and are not intermittently covering the infrared receivers Check the incoming and outgoing voltage of the Rx1 if correct, proceed to change the Rxd.

Back door does not register for locks:

  • Using a digital camera, verify that the LEDs of the Tx are on, if they are off, restart the Txd disconnect the C cable for 10 seconds if the problem persists, change the power cable C that goes from the Rxd to the source. If you change the C cable and the LEDs still do not turn on, verify that the voltage is correct and precede to change the Txd card if the voltage is correct.

Tailgate mark 60 locks:

Verify that the Rxu cable is connected correctly and they are sending the necessary voltage, otherwise check the caps that are not blocking the receiver.

conclusion

These are the most common problems that Opto Control sensors present, the most efficient ways of how to solve them as well as the measures to take in each of the cases presented.
