- Chile Crece Contigo is a Comprehensive Child Protection System whose mission is to accompany, protect and comprehensively support all children and their families, through actions and services of a universal nature, as well as targeting special support to those that present some greater vulnerability: “to each according to their needs.” It is part of the Intersectoral System of Social Protection (Law 20,379) and is in line with the commitments assumed by the State of Chile when it ratified, in 1990, the International Convention on children's rights.
What is the problem?
- In recent years, Chile has made progress in terms of equal opportunities, reduction of child poverty and access to educational and health opportunities. However, there are still considerable gaps in these aspects that persist in our country.
What are your definitions?
- Its main objective is to accompany and do a personalized follow-up of the development trajectory of children, from the first pregnancy control to their entry into the school system at the first level of transition or pre-kindergarten (around 4 or 5 years old In the understanding that child development is multidimensional and, therefore, biological, physical, mental and social aspects of the child simultaneously influence, it is that Chile Crece Contigo consists of the intersectoral articulation of initiatives, benefits and programs oriented to childhood, in order to generate a support network for the adequate development of children up to 4 or 5 years of age (early childhood).In this way, the same child will be provided simultaneous support in the different areas that are combined in its development:health, preschool education, family conditions, neighborhood and community conditions, among others. This is what is called comprehensiveness of social protection.

¿ Who is affected and to what extent?
During 2007, a total of 161 communes in the country joined Chile Crece Contigo, where the Biopsychosocial Development Support Program was implemented in health centers and corresponding maternity wards.
Since the beginning of 2008 the remaining communes will be incorporated into the System, until they will be deployed in the 345 communes that make up the country.
Aimed at the entire national population (boys, girls in early childhood and their families) that through awareness, promotion, information and education, on timely care and stimulation of boys and girls, seeks to generate a social environment with favorable family and community environments, which contribute to the maximum deployment of the development potential of boys and girls in this stage of life.
How will the problem evolve if we don't act on it?
The purpose of the Social Worker is to contribute to managing the quality of life of the population, promoting the development of the potential of individuals, families, groups and communities so that they can assume the leading role in health care.
What does this system offer to early childhood boys and girls?
Support and accompaniment during the critical period of development, to favor the maximum deployment of capabilities. The accompaniment allows to have in the same circuit, the various supports that ChCC offers to early childhood boys and girls at the local level.
The accompaniment makes it possible to define the specific supports that will be made available to each child, according to the characteristics of their development trajectory, based on the needs detected by the Biosychosocial Development Support Program.

What are Community Networks?
They are a multisectoral body that brings together at the community level, the set of public and municipal services that work in favor of early childhood children.
It is a local management device whose main function is to implement the modality of longitudinal accompaniment to the development path of boys and girls.
The support modality consists of combining and articulating in each boy and girl, in a timely and pertinent manner, the benefits of the Biosychosocial Development Support Program and the differentiated benefits, according to the particular characteristics and development demands of each boy and girl covered by Chile Crece Contigo.
The management of the Community Network allows Chile Crece Contigo to come into contact with early childhood children who are its focus of intervention.
The institutionality in favor of childhood that is gathered in the Community Network corresponds to the instances that are directly linked to child development, such as health and education.
The Municipality has a key role, since according to its powers it is responsible for the articulation of development policies at the communal level, in this case local policies in favor of early childhood development.
Other instances participate whose contribution allows to support the generation of favorable conditions of the environment in which boys and girls develop.

- The Chile Crece Contigo Community Networks operate in complex settings, where different interpretations, different expectations and particular interests come into play. So what is peculiar about the network is the ability to generate common references that trigger a collaborative, coordinated and systematic action. Essential conditions for the institutional functioning in a network for ChCC In ChCC networks, this collaborative dynamic occurs in two senses:
