Tangibility of goods and services

Anonim

DEFINITION OF SERVICE: Currently, the service is not defined as the production of intangibles, although they are, what can be noted is that the service is a whole system of activities that a business has, seeking with them to meet customer needs and the maximum satisfaction of it.

DEFINITION OF GOOD: It can be defined as a tangible element (that can be felt). With its production it is pursued, as with the service, to meet the needs of the customers and the maximum satisfaction when consuming it.

TANGIBILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GOODS AND SERVICES: What can be seen today regarding this issue is that beyond the simple elaboration of the tangible or intangible good, what is sought is to provide the customer with the price, the quality, the design and other characteristics of the product (good or service) that satisfy it.

What can be perceived is that there are some characteristics that highlight the tangibility and intangibility of one and the other. Between them:

* You can have stocks of goods in the warehouse, services cannot be kept in stocks.

* Goods can be transported, services cannot.

* With goods the contact between company and client can be indirect, with services the contact is always direct.

* With goods the property is transferred at the time of purchase, with services not.

* Goods can be exported, services cannot.

* The production of goods and their consumption can occur in different spaces, in services both occur in the same place.

* With goods, companies separate production from sales, with goods, production and sales cannot be separated.

* The consumer has no participation in the production of goods, in services, takes a direct part in the production process.
