The importance of leadership

Anonim

Today the world faces problems that seem insurmountable. The conflicts in which society is debated and that the media show daily, of a political, economic, social, cultural, moral, religious nature, etc., are amazing.

To cite some examples, we can mention the incongruity of life of the political leaders who show in most cases a poverty of the value of the search for the common good, the national economic instability, which translates into a high unemployment rate, in belts of poverty and misery, which generate a social problem and which manifests itself in hunger, malnutrition, health problems, insecurity, crime, prostitution, drug addiction, disintegration of the family nucleus; Morality is permanently in deficit, ethical and moral standards are increasingly relaxed, the environment of permissiveness advances by leaps and bounds, etc. In this problem, leadership plays an extremely important role.

All the problems that afflict us in society have to do with leaders in general, directly. These crises, and many others, spring first from the lack of positive, constructive, dynamic and creative leadership.

Such crises of our time reflect a progressive dehumanization, due to the decrease in the practice of the fundamental virtues and values, which have been evident through the centuries and manifested with pain and sacrifice, by a series of strong and powerful leaders. effective that have given us an example.

There is a clamor that demands not only political leaders, but in all areas of society. Without pretending to be fatalistic, pessimistic or negative, we can affirm that as long as there are no leaders trained in the practice of virtues and with values, society will not go ahead in its demands, and the social crisis will worsen.

It is indisputable that the success or failure, the rise or fall of any organization, company, or society, is something that is determined by the quality of leadership. It is up to leaders to make any organization function properly and successfully. The truth about this matter is that leadership is a perfectly natural condition of life.

The world is made up of two types of people, "leaders and followers." Humanity is tied to the pursuit of progress, and it depends on leadership. Therefore, the process of selecting leaders that guarantees authentic progress is of great importance.

The industrial age is behind us, and we have entered the knowledge age, where the world economy revolves around it. We must be careful not only to let ourselves be carried away by the accumulation of knowledge, without its being exercised from a solid base based on virtues and values.

Professionals demanded by society must have the characteristic of being informed and trained in two vital areas; knowledge and values, directed by a right conscience and an iron will to do good, with high social sensitivity, and committed to love.

For this reason, if we want our society to change, a serious comprehensive educational project must be created, and have the necessary infrastructure to carry it out, to ensure that professionals are trained as service leaders, capable of contributing to the progress of humanity.

Given the evident growing deterioration of society, it is urgent that both the public and private sectors establish procedures that ensure an adequate selection of people with positive leadership characteristics, to perform public service functions, especially in transcendent appointments at all levels of employment. politics and professionals for private initiative.

This becomes a proposal for social improvement to have a more just, more convivial society, where people value themselves for what they are, respect and promote human dignity, understand what we were created for, and joyfully assume vocation of service out of love. In the end we will be better people, contributing to our fulfillment and happiness.
