A leader in front of the different personalities of a group

Anonim

There are many people who feel compelled to move on, but only one really wants to be a leader. The problem is when some people think that they cannot become leaders because they consider that they are destined in their path. It is true that many leaders have the same compass, they are charismatic characters, they are go-getters, but some of them in the past, were humble, shy and had the peace of mind they needed to become leaders. It all comes down to the question of knowing what people want and knowing how to motivate them. The last part, however, is the hardest job to take on as a leader.

Motivating people is certainly not an easy task, since a person's ability to feel motivated is related to personality. When you start working with a group of people, there will be certain peculiarities with which you must learn to balance such as the opposite personalities and the idiosyncrasies of the group, since people are different in their tastes and attitudes. You may have to juggle different tasks. In your eagerness to please each person, you may end up not pleasing others. So how can you work with diverse personalities and be able to motivate people?

First, avoid trying to prove to everyone that you can meet all the individual needs of the group. Although this may seem contradictory to you, this will favor you because otherwise you will give the impression that you are only interested in pleasing them and that they believe that to survive your position you need their approval. Have you ever gotten angry when you saw someone trying to lower themselves in front of others to be accepted? So think about whether you do it as a leader, how others would see it. Does this behavior benefit you?

Keep in mind that you cannot please everyone. This is related to the above, no matter how hard you try, it will always be little, no matter how you want it, you can never get a flawless product.

This means that you must maintain a good rhythm as a leader, do not think too much about your mistakes, but learn through them. You can't move on without leaving the past behind, instead of spending your time thinking and reflecting on everything you did wrong in that report or what you said wrong in that meeting, the best thing you can do is keep moving.

Don't be afraid to show your emotions. You are human. You cannot smile all the time, they will think you are ridiculous, or that you laugh all the time for anything. If you are angry at your team because they performed poorly, be firm, don't be afraid to show that they did their job poorly and that you are disappointed. Be true to yourself and you can see that your team will be true to you, but don't overdo your attitudes. Have consistent attitudes according to your own essence as a person.

Prepare some rewards for your team members. Don't stop to compare simple key chains or shirts, as if you were acting as a spokesperson for a corporation. It will be more interesting as a reward, if you invite everyone to eat at a good restaurant if they meet the goals of the group. So they can all celebrate together the victory that working towards the same goal has great value for you and for all of them.
