One of the issues that is discussed with great care and dedication in the various business areas is related to “corporate governance”, a tool that should not only be on the business agenda, but also in public administration.

The so-called "good corporate governance" is the current topic in various forums. Some relate it to a program of strengthening and transparency in administration and financial activities, while others emphasize the responsibility of board members, executives at all levels, and workers in general. There are even those who reveal that "corporate governance" is closely linked to control and regulation mechanisms such as international norms and standards.

It is part of everything described is true, but it is also true that good corporate governance is related to the entire organization, where the responsibility belongs to everyone, starting with those who run the company to the members of the board of directors and general management.

An excellent internal controls policy, a fundamental pillar of corporate governance, will ultimately be one that includes the management of business risks (of all types), competitiveness to guarantee investment, promotion of new markets and mechanisms to deal with success the processes of economic globalization that require, with increasing urgency, the adoption of international standards on the way in which organizations, whether private or public, are managed and controlled.

The phrase "Peru is bigger than its problems" is well known, but why the country must always be in trouble, many of which have their origins in poor management quality, institutional corruption and lack of vision for the future. It is also stated that we seek the desired development and that we would like to surpass our neighbors, but if we do not put into practice the premises of good corporate governance, we will hardly reach the proposed goals. Likewise, political scandals, fraud and all kinds of corruption in organizations would be avoided.

Some basic concepts of corporate governance are in the vision of the future which is the key to knowing where you want to go. Without vision, no visible goals will be achieved. Within this vision, training is essential to have new vision and mission approaches, thus avoiding deficiencies in management. From this perspective, the people who make up senior management and any other responsibility that decision-makers have, should have the correct management and control of organizations as their goal.

The globalization process that the world is experiencing, from which Peru cannot abstract itself, guides world trade towards the liberalization of its economies, the generation of expanded markets, attractive levels of investment, and investment confidence. However, nothing that is written will be possible if the organizations and government administration (central, regions and municipalities) do not apply the criteria of corporate governance in their decisions.
